The Crossbeam Next Generation Security Platform allows companies to consolidate racks of security appliances and network equipment like switches and load balancers, virtualize the deployment and delivery of security applications, and dramatically simplify delivery of security services.

Crossbeam has the unique ability to tightly integrate leading-edge hardware with industry-leading third-party security applications like firewalls, intrusion detection systems, intrusion preventions systems, content gateways, and others. As a result, security services are not embedded in the networks as racks of special-purpose appliances, switches, and load balancers. By consolidating application processing and providing virtualization capabilities, the Next Generation Security Platform creates a security layer that overlays the company network.

 The Crossbeam X-Series integrates superior network processing together with exceptional application processing on an open architecture - which means you gte to choose best-in-class applications to run on the platform to maximize your security - protecting the assets, brand and customers - that is what Crossbeam provides.

 The secret to the platform is that it's actually a Virtual Infrastructure or "network-in-a-box" that provides a responsive system that is change-ready to your application and performance needs – Our Virtual Infrastructure delivers exceptional performance by leveraging every ounce of processing resource and maximizing system life.

The X-Series allows enterprises and service providers to consolidate network infrastructure (switches, load balancers, patch cabling and power cords) and appliances supporting security applications. It dramatically simplifies deployment and on-going management. The net effect is that you can consolidate 50:1 devices in the network. That means fewer devices to manage, a smaller footprint in the data center and of course a lower cost of ownership.

The system is designed using five components:

(1) Carrier grade chassis

(2) Network Processor Module (NPM)

(3) Application Processor Module (APM)

(4) Control Processor Module (CPM)

(5) XOS Operating System

All working together to create our open adaptable platform built from the ground up with no single point of failure.

CROSSBEAM X-SERIES BLADES

The NPM blade provides the switching fabric, physical interfaces, load balancing and routing functions for the X-Series platform. That means you can effectively consolidate networking gear – making you more efficient and reducing IT engineer installation and configuration time drastically.

The APM blade provides the horsepower to run the applications. The more blades the more power. Each APM can run one application in what we call a "Virtual Application Processor" (VAP) and you can decide to combine APMs together into what is called a VAP Group. This means that you can scale the performance of individual applications running inside the X-Series.

 The CPM is the brains of the system and the caretaker. It manages the system so you don't have to. The CPM continuously checks and monitors the health of the chassis for you and takes action to self-heal itself by re-provisioning blades. It does this while it stores all the application information together with all the configurations like all the system and network configuations.
